For those keeping count, this is the 4th iteration of Gamer Theory. For those who are first-time visitors, well, here’s the quick rundown.

I was a video game journalist for over a decade. I attended 11 E3 shows, many video game junkets, lots of special preview events internationally, and was on the press list for just about every video game publisher. I worked for several outlets, but the one I spent the most time with was Advanced Media Network, which was the parent company for the now defunct Kombo.com. Once Kombo was sold and our content was absorbed into GameZone, I was a bit unsure what to do in regards to my gaming journalism journey.

During my time at Kombo, I started up The Stupid Gamer and broke a handful of big stories, launched a podcast that enjoyed a strong audience, published reviews and editorials in local newspapers, contributed to some more major outlets, and moved a lot of my commentary to social media. I eventually launched Gamer Theory Media, and a big part of the former Kombo audience joined us and we had an active forums community and an active editorial staff. Things were good, but life kept turning me in other directions.

Over time, my output on Gamer Theory waned, and posts went from many a day down to maybe one or two a week. Social media overtook the need for forums, and our community slowly splintered off onto Twitter, tumblr, reddit, Facebook, and others. Gamer Theory limped along, and even saw some reboots, but it has never been the full network it once was.

So we’re here today, another reboot in progress. While I’m not going with a custom website and I’m opting for an out-of-the-box WordPress solution, I do hope to keep a good running flow of content going. If I have any old fans and friends out there, I’m so excited to be engaging with you again. For all the new fans and friends, welcome!
